Tools for Advanced Manufacturing
Tools for Advanced Manufacturing for Veterans is a 14-day course which provides training in OSHA 30, Lean/Six Sigma Yellow Belt, and Innovation and Design training as well as resume assistance and human resource development for civilian employment. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will earn three nationally recognized certifications: National Career Readiness Certificate, including the ACT WorkKeys job skills assessment system tests, OSHA 30 and Lean/Six Sigma Yellow Belt certifications, and they will have experienced rounds of speed interviews conducted by county and regional manufacturers. The purpose of this course is to aid exiting and retired service members in their transition from the military to civilian workforce and to supply the regional demand for qualified professionals. This course is offered free-of-charge to veterans by ECU's Champions of Freedom Fund from private donors. With continued support, ECU, in partnership with Fayetteville Technical Community College, Craven Community College (New Bern/Cherry Point), and Pitt Community College (Greenville), will present the course on a rotating basis at the community college locations and will engage human resource recruiters throughout eastern North Carolina to meet their demand for technically skilled, leadership-oriented employees. The next course will be held in Partnership with Pitt Community College and the City of Greenville in Greenville, NC from 17 July through 5 August 2014.
