Tools for Advanced Mfg. for Vets

East Carolina University (ECU) in partnership with Craven (CCC) Community Colleges and Fayetteville Technical (FTCC) will hold the ninth session of Tools for Advanced Manufacturing for Veterans (TAMV) at Craven Community College campus beginning 14 April through 1 May.  Generally, class days are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break on your own.  Three weeks of instruction is offered free of charge to transitioning military and veterans through private donations to the ECU's Champions of Freedom Fund.  Veterans are responsible for the $30 cost of the Career Readiness Certificate exam required for admission. Attendance at each of the 15 class days is required to obtain the national certificates.  Successful students will finish the course with three national technical certificates: ACT National Career Readiness Certificate™ (NCRC™), OSHA30 and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (this is the coursework portion of the Green Belt, which  requires projects), and are able to take additional ACT WorkKeys® assessment tests. These national certificates apply particularly in the manufacturing industry, and generally to many industries including healthcare, education, and other industry sectors.  Additional certificates may be obtained in Fork Lift Training. The course provides hands-on demonstration of advanced manufacturing equipment; instruction in innovation and industrial design; and resume and interviewing preparation.  Local and regional manufacturing firms participate in a speed interviewing process at the closing of the class.  This process affords the veterans practice in civilian interviewing as well as opportunities to secure follow-up interviews with the represented companies.
