Laboratory for Simulated Blast Injury and High Explosive Research

East Carolina University's laboratory for simulated Blast Injury and High Explosive Research uses an Advanced Blast Simulator (ABS) technology that allows for the safe generation of blast waves in the laboratory environment that faithfully reproduces the physics and waveforms of real explosions. Blast waves are generated by the release of a compressed inert gas (air or helium) via the rupture of a frangible membrane.
